About Me
Growing up in Charlotte, I have spent much of my personal and professional time committed to what I do best: design. That incorporates several facets of the word. I have experience in print design, graphic design, and website development. That experience has come through several mediums from print publications, outdoor displays, and online user interfaces.
I first started in my career fresh out of high school. It wasn't glamorous but it definitely fueled the fires of my interests. I spent my days working in dark rooms, photographing cars, and laying out ads for newspapers. From there I worked in a signage shop, popular local entertainment publication, and had a chance to learn some of the processes of a print press.
I began noticing that much of my work was beginning to find it's home on the internet. Seeing this as more than a fad, I started to seek ways to modernize all the designs I had been making. I began producing graphics specifically for the internet. Beyond that, I used some of the popular tools of the day to design and construct websites on a freelance basis.
I then decided that I wanted to step up to the next level and create works of art for the web that were functional and reflected my abilities as a designer. Determining the most natural first step was education, I returned to school in the Spring of 2008. There, I learned many website design techniques like the best CSS/HTML practices, motion graphics, and dynamic languages such as PHP.
It was during my time in school that I started an internship with a local marketing company. With that company, I expanded my experience to include content management systems, search engine optimization, and full technology consulting. After my four month long internship, I was offered a position there as Lead Designer and it is where I remain today.
I have found in my professional life that in design and technology, the techniques and tools continually evolve and to a humbling note, one is never fully educated. As things change so often, I am always in a learning mode. However, with the right approach and an aggressive attitude, I have been able to evolve along with my practice. And what excites me more than what I'm doing today is what I'm doing tomorrow.
